Essential Duas to Recite During Ramadan 2025

As we embrace the spirit of Ramadan, we begin with hearts brimming with gratitude to Allah for giving us a chance to witness this profound month. It’s a time filled with deep prayers, recitation of the Quran, countless supplications, and heartfelt charities.

One of the beautiful virtues of Ramadan is:

Abu Hurairah said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained up.” [Sahih Bukhari, 1898; Muslim, 1079]

To help you maximize the blessings of these sacred days and nights, we have compiled a list of select duas to recite during Ramadan.

We encourage you to keep the dua list within easy reach—take a printout or keep it handy on your phone. This way, you can seamlessly integrate the recitation into your daily routine during the holy month.

Dua for Reaching Ramadan

There are no specific duas to recite during Suhoor or while fasting. However, it is essential to have the right intention, and you can recite daily duas, including morning and evening Azkar.

Dua for Breaking Your Fast During Ramadan
As the moment of Iftar approaches, hunger and fatigue peak. This is a crucial time for a fasting person to focus on making heartfelt supplications, as duas made at this time are believed to be accepted.

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“There are three whose supplication is not rejected: The fasting person when he breaks his fast, the just ruler, and the supplication of the oppressed person…” [At-Tirmidhi, 2525]

When breaking the fast, it is recommended to recite:

ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ وَثَبَتَ الأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ
Transliteration: Dhahabaz zama’u wabtalatal urooq wa thabatal ajr in sha Allah.
Meaning: Thirst is gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is certain, if Allah wills. [Abu Dawud]

Dua for the Last 10 Nights of Ramadan
The last ten nights of Ramadan are the most important nights of the year, as they mark the appearance of the blessed night, Laylatul Qadr. It is reported that the Prophet (PBUH) said:

“Seek Laylat al-Qadr in the last ten days of Ramadan.” [Bukhari and Muslim]

Allah says in Surah Al-Qadr, verse 3, that this night is better than a thousand months. Muslims should strive in night prayers, supplications, and Quran recitation.

One of the best duas to recite is:

الْلَّهُمَّ اِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Transliteration: Allahumma innaka ‘affuwwun, tuhibbul-‘afwa, fa’fu ‘anni
Meaning: O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me.

Dua for Goodness in This Life and the Next
Transliteration: Rabbana aatina fid-dunya hassanatau, wa fil akhirati hassanatau, wa qina ‘adhab an-nar.
Meaning: Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire. [Surat Al-Baqarah, 2:201]

Importance of Dua During Ramadan
Dua is a profound means of seeking closeness to Allah. Allah says in the Quran:

وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِى عَنِّى فَإِنِّى قَرِيبٌ ۖ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ ٱلدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ ۖ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لِى وَلْيُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِى لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْشُدُونَ
Transliteration: Wa idha sa’alaka ‘ibadi ‘anni fa’inni qareeb. Ujeebu da’wathad da’ee idha da’aan. Fal yasthajeebu’li wal yu’minu bi la’alahum yar shudun
Meaning: When My servants ask you ‘O Prophet’ about Me: I am truly near. I respond to one’s prayer when they call upon Me. So let them respond ‘with obedience’ to Me and believe in Me, perhaps they will be guided ‘to the Right Way’. [Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:186]

This verse reminds us to ask of Allah and to know He will respond.
